Rated 5 out of 5 by Big Fish from Lives up to it's name "winch" This reel fits great in your hand and is smooth as silk when retrieving. I have pulled many very large fish out of thick heavy cover with no problems. The drag on this rig is awesome. I recall pulling a 8+ lb bass with his whole head out of the water and thinking that poor guy didn't have a chance. What a great dependable product.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Speckfisher361 from Highly Recommended Reel I received this reel for my birthday after realizing that I was in need of a good cranking reel. I took this reel out yesterday during our bass team practice and at first had this on my Abu Veritas 7 ft medium action rod throwing a Squarebill crankbait. However since the water temperature was lower than what was good for cranking I eventually tied on a DD22 and the reel worked like a dream. It cast great and was super smooth even when reeling in the bigger crankbait. It even worked great while reeling the 5 pounder that slammed my DD22 after a few casts. I recommend this reel to anyone who is looking for a lower gear ratio reel for cranking.

Rated 2 out of 5 by PMaddaloni from Terrible Casting Distance I bought a Revo Winch in February. I reeled so smoothly and beautifully. Yesterday, I finally had a chance to fish with it with a guide on Candlewood Lake in CT. I showed the guide, a Shimano guy, how awesome my MGX and Winch were. He loved my MGX but when he casted the Winch (and he's a much more accomplished bait caster than I am) he couldn't get ANY distance. We tweaked brakes, spool tension...and got nowhere. He pulled his Shimano Curado out and casted the same bait a MILE. Needless to say, I hung my head in disappointment. Anyone have similiar experience? This reel is so smooth but nearly useless with such limited casting distance.

Rated 5 out of 5 by AcwoodATL from Casts FAR, Holds lots of line, Gets my Crank DOWN This is a very light reel that is hard to backlash, and it is also a very nice palm-able reel so its very comfortable when fishing crank baits. Its my go to reel for any bait with a lip. I also love the clicks when you adjust the brake system so you know when you've gone up a notch or down a notch. It makes it easy to "remember" your settings for different weights.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A battle you Can WINch There's no denying that if you've used a revo, you know what that first cast feels like. You look over at your buddy (who's just been greatly outcasted) and you exchange that look. That look that says, hmmm.... maybe this was worth the money. A couple hours go by and you've almost forgotten the reels in your hand; not because of its flawlessly comfortable low-profile design, but rather because its so smooth, and so effortless to use that its practically became an extension of your arm. Days go by, (maybe weeks if the wife's got a honey dew list for you) until you use it again, and time after time the revo-winch delivers. Its truly the best reel ive used. plain and simple.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Casting distance Had this reel for a few months. It a great reel and super smooth. The casting distance on this is horrible. Thought maybe it was just me. So I letter brothers try it out and they have the same problem. After a few trips, it's starting to whine everytime I cast it now. The level wind is horrible. It spools very unevenly. So I took the line back out and tried to spool it again same thing happened. I tried it five times. Now it spools unevenly on the right side. So after all this I took it on where I bought it for. Sent it off and got it back they said it was fixed but nope still the same problems.

Rated 5 out of 5 by tmm_sbc from Cast all day with little effort! I purchased the winch this summer for casting those big crank baits. In middle TN we do a lot of casting in the month of June on the local reservoirs. My job takes me to Korea sometimes and in June of this year I returned from Korea on a Friday and fished a local Walmart BFL tournament on Saturday. Even though I had not slept in 26 hrs, I still was able to fish all day with the winch because it makes casting almost effortless. Long story short, I placed 3rd and almost had big fish too. I now have 7 Abu Garcia baitcast reels in my collection and look forward to number 8, "The Revo MGX".

Rated 5 out of 5 by IBFishin from Bring Up Your Crankin' Game I've had my Winch for two seasons and it performs just like it did on day one. My cranking has improved with the low gear ratio. I'm not constantly concentrating on reeling slower like I had to with a faster ratio reel. I was afraid casting would be an issue when going from heavy to light baits since it does not have all the bells and whistles for cast control-not the case at all. Just one simple adjustment and you can cast a mile with it. The Winch also excells while pitching in heavy cover-I just need another one! Want to bring up your crankin game? Buy a Revo Winch!
