COLUMBIA, S.C. – Newcomer Bradley Roy is paving the way in the Rookie of the Year race. The new Berkley and Abu Garcia pro angler claimed the top spot in the Rookie of the Year race by finishing strong this past weekend on California’s Clear Lake.
The youngest angler in the field has started to raise a few eyebrows on the BASS Elite Series. Bradley Roy, at just 19 years old, took over the top spot in the Rookie of the Year race by finishing in 8th place at Clear Lake – not bad considering he is the youngest angler to ever fish the Elite Series and never fished in California.
“It has been a great start to the season,” said Roy. “I started slow on the Delta with a 50th place finish, but I really felt confident coming into Clear Lake. I have received a great deal of support from my fellow anglers, family and especially my sponsors, which make it possible for me to compete at the highest level”
The next stop for Bassmaster Elite Series anglers is the Blue Ridge Brawl, set for April 15-18 on Virginia’s Smith Mountain Lake.
