Rated 5 out of 5 by Ausin E from Luckiest pole I have! Bought this pole my freshman year of college because the house I was living in had a great pond out front and didn't want to use a spin cast setup. First bait I used on this pole was a small twin tail grub on a jig head and reeled in a 3lb bass on my first cast. Since then, I've fished this combo for 3 years and it has never failed me. Great for shaky head and drop shot fishing and as others, an absolute dream for crappie. I'm never getting rid of it. I have switched the line out to 20ln braid with fluro leaders and that has been an absolute killer. Braid really brings out the sensitivity in this rod.

Rated 4 out of 5 by TFish from Versatile for all types of gamefish! I have fished many different combos through the years, much of which were Shimano and Abu Garcia. This really is a good combo for the price. I bought it mostly for bass because of the stiffness and quality of the rod. I've slayed several hard hitting small mouth and large mouth alike, but also used it for trout and smaller pan fish and found it has pretty darn good sensitivity as well. The reel leaves somewhat to be desired although I wouldn't say it's cheap. It has fairly smooth casting properties do to the aluminum spool. It's dependable and decently priced. I also like the fact it came with a one year warranty as do most of Abu Garcia's line up.

Rated 5 out of 5 by BowfinMike from Dyamite on BIG Fish I have been fishing these spinning combos for approximately 3 years in the lakes and rivers of East Texas. I have fished in freshwater and saltwater for over 40 years with a wide variety of fishing tackle. Pound for pound and for the cost, this is the absolute best rod and reel combo on the planet. I have caught bream, crappie, bass, catfish, white bass, hybrid stripped bass, chain pickerel, bowfin, big grass carp, and a giant buffalo on this combo. The drag system is the best; smooth, relentless, and needs little maintenance. The 6 foot rod will hold just about anything in freshwater. Don't believe me check out the 60 pound buffalo I caught in Lake Palestine, Texas on a Jig'N Shad slab on this combo in June 2016. Also have caught numerous grass carp from 12 to 19 pounds on this rod and reel combo. I will not fish anything else!

Rated 5 out of 5 by Skwid from Great setup My son won one of these setups from the “Santa Cruz sandcrab classic” the following year won the “shiner perch” award, as an up and coming avid fisherman. This was his go to rig, fishing all species, both salt and fresh water. After years of hard fishing, he ended up breaking the rod, he was hung up in a willow, he was bummed. We returned from the lake and had to order another, well we ordered two, because his little brother had to have one as well. These kids fish a couple times a week, all year, with a few weeks solid in the mix. The pole will take a pounding. the reel may need to be upgraded they are “ok” and will get the job done for a while.

Rated 2 out of 5 by Mista from Great Rod, terrible Reel!! Bought this almost a month ago, I was very pleased at first with how it handled. It was used about four times before the reel started acting up. All of the sudden after constant use the bail started not opening correctly. The bail would not open up completely, causing my line to constantly get stuck when casting. Every cast I would have to keep adjusting the reel so that my line would not get caught. I've gotten longer use out of a reel I've purchased at Walmart for under $20. The rod is great though, I've had no problems with it, the reel is the only thing I've had issues with. So after constant adjusting to the reel, I decided to just pick up my silvermax combo to complete the fishing trip.

Rated 5 out of 5 by TypicallBass from Best budget combo had this combo for over 4 years and it did well for bass fishing, no problems on my end but during this years open season for MN 2017 my pole actually broke in two during the 2nd week of may. Buying another one of course.
