The extra large dropped gear box on these MaxToro version, do make them not fit rod holders well. All other versions of low pro line counter reels (have more then a few models of them) do fit to an extent. Bit concerned about the thin reel feet as a previous reviewer mentioned but I haven't run them yet so I don't know for sure. I have the smaller max DLC and they work well for the size, so features of this version are welcomed. Will have to see how I can best utilize them.

I own 14 older Abu Garcia Ambassadeur and thought I'd give the newer stuff a try. Grabbed this for laker trout, and wiper fishing. Got it home, released the bail, turned bait runner on, gave it a couple spins and was really thinking this would be great. Then...it jammed. Got curious so I took it apart. The mount hole for the digital line counter broke it looks like from assemble at the factory and jammed the main gear. Wonder how many are like this floating around. This is brand new, hasn't seen extreme colds, harsh use or been dropped.

Tried when they 1st came out. All 3 redl feet broke in the rod holder. Now several years later. Decided to give them a try again hoping they fixed the issue. Guess what? Nope! Reel foot broke again. These reels can not be use in a rod holder. The reel foot breaks everytime!. I tried using these for Salmon. Save your money and buy the cheap Okuma Line counter reels. Years of abuse and the reel still goes strong. All my years the this reel is the only one i have ever had the reel foot break on me. All of yhem were brand new too.
