Rated 4 out of 5 by Kmart from Reliabilty every cast. Ive had two of these reels in two years. My son and daughters all use my equipment. You can pick these two reels up at any time after camping or a week of hard river fishing and not even question if they will perform. My children arent the easiest on my fishing equipment at all but the rugged build handles all they theow at them and still perform.

Rated 4 out of 5 by Brad58 from Flawless I've had the STX 30 for about a month. Purchased brand new, so far I've caught 7 20" large mouth bass amd everyone fought hard. Handful of rock bass, 2 20" walleye, and three silver bass... So far this reel has been absolutely flawless. Paired with 7' boocoo pole, get nothing but compliments with this rig. Would highly recommend in this price range.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Malguy from Abu Garcia Vengeance/Cardinal STX Spinning Combo I was gifted this rod last summer. I have 7' Medium 1-piece rod with the Cardinal STX Spinning reel. It was a combo that costed $79.99 at Dick's Sporting Goods. Individually it costs about $50 for each, so a $100 pole all together. It's a great pole for catching small and largemouth bass. I fish a lot of lakes in New Hampshire, Massachusetts, and Vermont and I killed it this past summer and caught lots of big bass with this great combo. It's easy to to reel in big ones and I don't have to worry about losing them. Abu Garcia makes the best fishing equipment out there and I highly recommend this combo to anyone who fishes bass.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Sandy from Best $50 range reel on the market I own 4 of these reels. Two 5's and two 10's. I use one of the 5's on an ultralight for trout and absolutely love it. It handles light line great and has the perfect drag to finesse a soft mouth fish like trout. I also use a 5 to cast jigs for river walleyes. This reel has the perfect line capacity and the drag is able to handle 27 inch walleyes. I use the 10's for vertical jigging and I love how light they are and how well balanced they feel in your hand. I would take this reel over many others twice the price.

Rated 5 out of 5 by XChief from STX = Smooth, Tuff, eXcelant I purchased this reel last year on sale with a free rod from a sporting goods store. It was a replacement for my 42 year old Mitchell Garcia 330 that I purchased in 1972. I spooled it with 8# fluorocarbon line. I have found that it is my go to rod and reel outfit almost every day. The line peels off the reel with no problems. The 6+1 bearings make for a smooth retrieve. The drag on this reel is also smooth with no locking up when your fighting those big fish. It is tough and takes abuse for it's light weight of 8.9 oz. I love this reel and it is priced right even when it is not on sale. Well worth the price.

Rated 3 out of 5 by fishermanmike from Broken bail I've used this reel for just a year, I was satisfied with the reel until one day the plastic piece connected to the bale broke. Most of the reel is made of metal except the piece that connects the bale to the reel. I have always used Abu and will probably continue to do so. I would like to replace the broken piece, but have not been able to locate the piece. I gave 3 stars because when it was working it got the job done. If that one plastic piece wouldn't have broke its overall rating is 4.5/5 stars.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Donovan from Big Bang for Your Buck! I really like this reel. It is smooth, relatively light, and it looks cool. I have been able to fish this reel over 5 times (day long trips) and I can say that I am impressed. For $30 you can't go wrong. The smooth drag aloud me to land a 5 pound 2 oz largemouth with ease. I've always used more expensive Abu Garcia reels but this small cheap reel has proven fit for me. I love using it on my 6'6'' Veritas for shaky head and wacky rig fishing. Overall a great reel for the price. I would highly recommend this to anyone from the novice angler to the professional

Rated 5 out of 5 by Broncoman367 from Smooth Well worth every penny you spend. It may be a little smaller reel but it has a ton of power being it. Reeling in a 6lbs bass was a breeze with this bad girl. Since my first cardinal purchase I've bought 2 more and have been happy with every single one. I would recommend to anyone!
