Rated 5 out of 5 by RCMA2 from Good Rods, Incorrect Website Information Purchased a Volatile VOLCMU86-8 (8’6”) this past spring to pair with a NaCl 60, and have been happy with the rods performance. It loads well with heavier lures. Wanted a little lighter rod to pair with a NaCl 50, and decided on a Volatile VOLC80-7 (8’, ¾-4 oz rating). This rod was not available locally to get a hands on, so I purchased it online. According to the Volatile Casting Rod page on the Abu Garcia website, both rods are supposed to have handle D. I liked the length of the handle on my 8’6” rod, and since they were supposed to be the same size, I would be good with that. After receiving the rod, I was very disappointed. The handles are not the same as stated on the Volatile web page. The fore grip of the VOLC80-7 (8’) is 1” shorter than the one on the VOLCMU86-8 (8’6”), and the rear grip is just over 2” shorter. The whole handle of the (8') VOLC80-7 (top of fully screwed down fore grip to the butt cap) is just over 3” shorter than the (8’6”) VOLCMU86-8. Having a measurement reference included in the picture of the handles on the AG Volatile page to show actual dimensions could be beneficial to perspective buyers. A rod with the specs that the VOLC80-7 (8’) has could benefit from the handle length of the VOLCMU86-8 (8’6”). I’ve decided to keep the 8’ rod instead of returning it. Overall, the VOLC80-7 (8’) is a nice rod that has performed well, although I am still unhappy about the incorrect information provided by Abu Garcia on their website. That same incorrect information has also now made it to this new Abu Garcia website.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Muskyhunt from The go to Musky Rod We bought this rod this past fall for to trial it through the tough cold fall conditions of musky fishing. The overall action and sensitivity of the rod is excellent. Build quality seems to hold up nicely. We considered this to be an all purpose setup (also bought the revo toro beast to pair with it). I was using this in 20 degree temps with snow and rain coming down, there was no ice build up at all. See the video for more info.

Rated 4 out of 5 by Team Gonna Fish from Volatile Rod For a long time, I have been wanting an 8' one piece rod to use for trolling for stripers, but I couldn't find one that wasn't really expensive. I saw the Volatile rod being used on a fishing show so I bought two 8' MH rods. LIke them so much that I bought two more. My only complaint/suggestion would be to get rid of the exposed blank on the handle butt and make the foam grip solid all the way down. This would make it sit in a rod holder better and not roll over. This is the only reason that I don't give it 5 stars. Otherwise, I love them. Paired up with the Ambassadeur 7000, it is a great combo for trolling for stripers.

Rated 4 out of 5 by ATXangler from Works great on inshore Redfish I purhcased 3 of the 7 foot mediums with fast action for fishing Redfish and Speckled Trout on the inshore bays and flats of the Upper Laguna Madre in Texas. They saw their first action this weekend on a kayak fishing trip and performed great. Casting performance was satisfactory. I was throwing top water Spook Jr's and saltwater plastics on 1/4 oz jigheads. The power was great, they easily handled the strong pull of Redfish ranging from 21-26 inches. Also handled trout and few Lady fish just fine. I'm very pleased to add Volatile Rods to my inshore arsenal. Great value and performance.
