Peter T Wins First BASS Event of 2008 with Abu Garcia

Peter Thliveros caught three limits of bass weighing 55 pounds, including an eight pounder, and won the St. Johns Southern Bassmaster Open. He relied on Abu Garcia Revo baitcast reels at the first competition of the season for BASS professionals.

Thliveros, pocketing over $50,000 for the win, lives just an hour from the St. Johns but had not fished the water with any regularity for nearly 20 years. He repeatedly fished the same seven or eight spots, hitting each twice a day. His 55 pounds over the three-day event was good for a nearly four pound lead over the runner up.

“I told my wife I might not bother entering the Southern Open, but at the last minute decided what the heck?" Thliveros said. “I’m glad I changed my mind. Plus this was a great warmup for the Bassmaster Classic next month.”
