COLUMBIA, S.C. (July 13, 2009) – Abu Garcia pro Scott Martin won his third career FLW Tour event at the final stop on the FLW Tour that was held on Lake Champlain this past weekend. Martin’s isolated sweet spots were loaded with largemouth bass hiding in a mix of healthy grass that gave Martin a winning bag of 36-pounds, 4-ounces. With the win Martin’s career earnings surpass one million dollars.
Abu Garcia had 6 anglers in the top 10 at the FLW event. Finishing in the top 10 were Scott Martin (1st), Jay Yelas (4th), Dave Lefebre (6th), Clark Wendlandt (7th), Greg Pugh (8th) and Luke Clausen finished tenth. Martin credited much of his victory to Berkley Trilene 100% Fluorocarbon line and the Berkley Powerbait Chigger Craw.
“I’ve never had a problem with my Revo STX reels,” said Martin. “The Revo line of reels are second to none. I use them to drag a Texas rigged craw around or if I decide to make long casts with a crankbait, either way they do the job. The smooth drag and durability of these reels is simply amazing.”
Abu Garcia Pro Clark Wendlandt also became the first angler to claim three Angler of the Year titles with the FLW Tour. Wendlandt secured the crown on Lake Champlain.
Look for the Abu Garcia pros at the upcoming $2 million Forrest Wood Cup, which is scheduled for the Three Rivers in Pittsburgh, Pa., July 30-Aug. 2.
