ABU GARCIA PRO REESE LEADS AOY STANDINGS HEADING INTO FINAL EVENT

COLUMBIA, S.C. – Abu Garcia pro Skeet Reese is one step closer to the B.A.S.S. Angler of the Year title after a stellar performance on Lake Jordan, Wetumpka, Ala., this past weekend.
After a slow start on Saturday, the Abu Garcia pro picked up the pace Sunday by landing 15 pounds, 3 ounces, moving him into the top spot for the Angler of the Year. The 2009 Bassmaster Classic Champ could become one of only a few anglers to win a Classic and AOY title in the same year.
“I try not to think about what ifs," said Reese. "I just go out and fish just like any other day. I am out here to win and no matter what title I am chasing that never changes. I did have a rough start Saturday, but things picked up for me Sunday, which is a big boost going into the final event."
The Auburn, Calif., native took that chance and ran with it, accumulating a 16-point lead over last year’s AOY Kevin Van Dam. If Reese is able to hold on to this lead going into the final event set for September 17-18 on the Alabama River out of Montgomery, Ala., he will add a second AOY title to his laundry list of accomplishments.
Reese was an instrumental part in designing the one-of-a-kind Abu Garcia REVO Skeet Reese. The reel was designed by Reese’s standards and specifications that he wanted to have in a professional reel. Built with power fishing in mind, the REVO Skeet Reese model is a fish-catching machine.
