Abu Garcia pro Bobby Lane earned his first BASS tournament victory this past weekend. The Lakeland, Fla., native weighed in over 97-pounds of fish during the four-day event at Kentucky Lake. The Abu Garcia pro cashed a $100,000 check for his winning effort; he led from start to finish. The low-profile baitcasting Revo SX reels were Lane's choice for the Tennessee Triumph BASS Elite Series event.
"My REVO's take a lot of abuse," said Lane, 2008 BASS Rookie of the Year. "The Abu Garcia SX reels performed perfectly; earning me my first BASS tour victory. The REVO reels really are the toughest, most durable reels that I have used. I was able to haul in one of the largest sacks that I remember catching during a tour-level event."
Surrounded by nearly 100 onlookers on the final day, Lane brought in his lightest bag of the tournament, 16 pounds, 15-ounces, to beat Kevin VanDam. Lane remained consistent throughout the tournament by fishing with a Berkley Power Worm.
Lane was not the only Abu Garcia pro enjoying the Kentucky Lake atmosphere; Skeet Reese (4th), Britt Meyers (7th), Kelly Jordon (8th) and Byron Velvick finished tenth.
The next Elite Series event is set for June 11-14 on the Mississippi River in Ft. Madison, Iowa.
