Great real for any big fish, lakes or rivers. The control and power are the best for this price range hands down.

6500s. Got this for xmas. Used it once and was wow. And the second time out I cast out and when I went to reel In it spin and won't reel back. First casting reel alway's used spinning reel and no fish had a chance but I was sad when I couldn't reel in my lure with my line. had to reel it by hand. Now how do i warranty this reel or exchange it but notice this reel have this problem. Do all casting reel have this problem. Or I get a defected reel? How will I go about this because I sold all my spinning reel to play with casting reel. Went from ocean fishing to river pond and creek fishing and all the pro say use these reel and I like the feel. didnt have the spool line bind up like most rookies mono 10lbs spider line 8-12lbs pole just don't know what to make of this.

This is the perfect reel to get you started in the fishing scene. Slap this full of 20lb mono or 30 pound braid and youre ready to go. Gives 11 pounds of stopping power for those catfish or bull reds. If you set the spool tension correctly for the size of bait, it wont backlash/birdness. The braking system works excellent and the clicker is loud enough. The level wind awesome.. moves when casting and reeling in. I really don't have any complaints for this reel.

I fish just about every day, 1 hour a day minimum. I put a beating on my equipment, my left handed 5500 has still works like a champ with over a year of heavy use, if you can always try to get the made in Sweden products, but I got the made in China one. After a month or two of use, one of the bearings in the reel started to make noise, but still operational.

I have owned many Ambassadeur reels.
My latest purchases have been 6501 Classic C-3's.
I have found theses reels to be very reliable. Their ease of operation and rugged construction have resulted in me landing many salmon and steelhead.
I will definitely purchase Abu Garcia reels in the future and have no problem rev commending them to others.
