The updated extended bent handle with power knob gives anglers an edge by increasing torque and aligning the cranking hand closer to the reel for more efficient fighting power. I purchased this reel about 8-9 weeks after i purchased the same reel in the catfish special, same reels just different color schemes. This reel makes a slight ticking noise and screams like a banshee...the other does neither. I contacted Abu about this and they said to do a warranty return for a damaged reel. It isn't damaged, it is straight up defective. So today i took the reel a part and discovered the anti-reverse pawl or dog was placed on the wrong stand off and was riding under the cogs it is supposed to engage. So i took it out and put it on the correct stand off and it works as intended. I would have to ask how that got like that from a brand new reel direct from the manufacturer? In any case, not happy with Abu Garcia at this point. I have purchased quite a bit direct from Purefishing including reels and rods, and this C3-7000C and another Abu spin reel. No issues with any of the others, just this reel.

I have used a lot of different reels in my life but when I bought this one I was impressed. I do a lot of tournament catfishing and I have put my reels through some abuse to say the least. The most impressive feature is the drag system. I have landed some big fish and this reel works just as good as it did day one.

My family has used ABU GARCIA for generations & they're pride in excellence shines in every reel especially this one. Catching fish From huge flathead catfish 45-120+lbs.to tackling bulk reds, sow speckled trout, to monster flounder this reel gets it done with ease.I never buy a reel unless it says ABU on it! Try it once, you'll be hooked for a lifetime! Happy Fishing-JOE CARTER.

Huge pike and muskie fishing is my specialty. And these new reels are phenomenal!, you can upgrade these with Boca bearings, but I have had zero issues with these new reels!, keep em maintained, light oiling, and Penn precision grease....all you ever need, sold my shimano calcuttas for these, they had drag issues,these have much better cadting and a drag system that is second to none! BLESS ABU FULLY!
