I own 4 of these reels.
Yes the drag slips, if it sets up for extended periods of time I think oil or grease seeps onto the drag assembly. I generally will tighten the drag and pull out line until it catches then back off the tension.
I also only buy the reels made in Sweden . The china made reels are crap. I’ve thrown a few fairly new reels in the trash because their junk and will not buy any more.

The drag system should not be slipping like that, and what you’re describing—especially after storage—sounds like it may need a closer inspection. It’s also understandable that you’ve developed a preference for the Swedish-made models based on past reliability.

Many times have had small fish just run and take drag with the drag set. Makes no sense.

I have to tighten the drag as tight as I can or the handle turns and no line comes in when I tighten up the drag to stop it it's so tight you can't pull any line out you can pull on it and none comes off it just cuts into your hand

I don’t own one yet ,but I do own around 20 off the other Ambassadeur reels and I love them.
