I have had several Abu Garcia Ambassadeur reels in the past and had very good luck with them.
The S model just did not operate as well as the others. It never did work as well as expected and the drag was very weak.
Then finally the plastic cap on the spool tensioner broke and it useless now. A metal cap like they used to come with would have kept me from being quite so disappointed.

Great real for any big fish, lakes or rivers. The control and power are the best for this price range hands down.

6500s. Got this for xmas. Used it once and was wow. And the second time out I cast out and when I went to reel In it spin and won't reel back. First casting reel alway's used spinning reel and no fish had a chance but I was sad when I couldn't reel in my lure with my line. had to reel it by hand. Now how do i warranty this reel or exchange it but notice this reel have this problem. Do all casting reel have this problem. Or I get a defected reel? How will I go about this because I sold all my spinning reel to play with casting reel. Went from ocean fishing to river pond and creek fishing and all the pro say use these reel and I like the feel. didnt have the spool line bind up like most rookies mono 10lbs spider line 8-12lbs pole just don't know what to make of this.

I fish just about every day, 1 hour a day minimum. I put a beating on my equipment, my left handed 5500 has still works like a champ with over a year of heavy use, if you can always try to get the made in Sweden products, but I got the made in China one. After a month or two of use, one of the bearings in the reel started to make noise, but still operational.
