A friend and I each bought this looking for a cheap musky reel for river musky fishing, and we both had issues on the first use. My friends reel straight up had a defective drag system; he hooked into a fish which immediately was able to spit it because his drag did not work. At best it was 1-2 pounds of drag, completely unusable. Then, on the same trip, I hooked into a fish, and the handle of my reel got bent. I get this is a cheap reel, but there are some major flaws with these.
Perhaps the most frustrating part, is that Abu Garcia did not do a thing. Even though this reel is "under warranty", they refused to send me a new handle even though this thing broke doing what it was supposedly made to do. I would have to send in my reel and wait who knows how long when I need this reel to fish with now. So now I am forced to use the reel with only one good handle. I have never had this much of a problem with a company before, but it seems these reels are cheap and Abu Garcia does not want to back up this product.

So far I have not been able to fish with this reel due to all water is iced up at this time. But, I love how tough this reel is built the size is great and feels very comfortable in my hand. The reel is loaded with 50lb braid and will be mainly used for glide baits. I will update after the ice is gone and we’re back to chasing the bass.
