I bought this not for the combo but for the rod. I have all my trust in Abu garcias rods so I bought the combo just for the rod. As for the reel it seems quite good and I have used it but for my trip I took it to Sweden and instead of using the reel that comes with it I used the Abu max pro (newest gen) on the rod and it turned out great. Has caught me lots of pike. One day I unfortunately snapped the tip. Not the rods fault in quality it was me tripping over. I bought a new eye for the end of the rod, and because of how well the rod is built it cast the same and has very similar sensitivity even after 4 inches being taken off!
