Built for anglers that like to push their gear to the brink and demand it pushes back even harder –– that's where the Beast was born. This innovation in reel technology was forged from expert angler feedback and refined through countless hours of re-engineering, prototyping, and on-the-water punishment. Throughout this design deep dive, we will explore what to expect from this new weapon on the water and why we knew it was a necessary upgrade to our existing product line powerhouses.

Inception & Conception

With this innovation, Abu Garcia set out to solve a handful of problems plaguing reels today. In most cases, undersized gears tend to decrease the life span and efficiency of big bait/big fish reels. Additionally, inadequate drag systems on the market today are underpowered and inconsistent, leading to lost fish. Traditional reels are also just uncomfortable and create fatigue that might cut your day on the water a little short.

Power Stack Carbon Matrix Drag System: This updated drag system provides up to 30+lbs of drag pressure while improving start up inertia and remaining smooth through the entire drag range.

Duragear III: The Beast™ series features up to a 21% increase in gear size for improved gear life, increased cranking power and greater gear efficiency.

A-Symmetrical Body Design: The new body design allows Abu Garcia to leverage a larger gear system and increase the size of the gear side, while reducing the palming size for maximum comfort and longer days on the water.

Optimized for Big Baits: With the addition of durability and upgraded performance, the new Beast™ Reels were designed to better handle big baits and control bigger fish.

Dialed-In Pairings: Rods Built For Beast

The Beast™ series casting and spinning rods have been designed to perfectly pair with the reels to ensure you can throw big baits for powerful fish with little to no resistance. The series utilizes an innovative specialized taper design specifically for leveraging baits that will attract large lunkers and muskie alike.

With a 30 Ton graphite body and Powerlux 200 resin system featuring stainless guides and a carbon cross wrapped butt section, these rods maintain fast action on the water and will always be stronger than the fish on the end of the line.
